“You can accept the diagnosis without accepting the prognosis.” These were the words from a documentary, Biology of Belief, I watched years ago that perfectly summarize how I feel about health. And throughout this episode, you’ll see why I prefer naturopathic doctors over MDs.
Over the past decade, I felt like I was playing symptom Whack-a-Mole through a never-ending cascade of chronic conditions. It was exhausting and each time I left the doctor’s office, I felt even more disappointed and defeated… Even if they took the time to listen, the recommended solutions were still the same. It seemed like there was always another pill, drop, or cream I would need to add to my daily routine.
Until I said enough was enough and sought out help from a Naturopathic Doctor. I finally saw the way I had been experiencing healthcare throughout my life was not the only option…
In this episode, I crack my personal health journey wide open. I’m sharing insights into my experiences with traditional medicine, autoimmune disease, and chronic health issues. And if you’re anything like the dozens of women I’ve talked to over the years, you’ll be able to relate.
Either way, I open up about why I now prefer to work with naturopathic doctors rather than traditional MDs. We’ll talk about:
- why I started to question western medicine approaches
- how naturopaths are different at their very core
- some differences in how naturopaths & MDs are educated
- what my appointment with an ND was like compared to a normal doctor
- how my naturopath solved an 8-year long issue in 2 minutes
- what role you can play in your health (if you desire)
As a reminder, I am NOT a doctor and this isn’t medical advice. It’s simply one girl’s experience with US healthcare that left her looking for alternatives.
(Pssst… If you want to listen to the birth control / tumor episode, click here.) While my experiences have been really frustrating, I’ve learned a lot along the way.
