Well, end of the year business investments can be great for tax savings, but let’s be clear… The most responsible way to approach the onslaught of Black Friday / Cyber Monday sales coming your way isn’t to sift through them to see what you might want. Equipment Black Friday Deals for Photographers

Alright, time for the most sought-after Black Friday photography deals… the equipment we use every day. Side note… they change often, but there are great deals on Amazon for extra camera bodies / lenses. Canon also typically runs smaller deals directly.

SD Card Deals

Did you know that SD cards are made to last ten years if they aren’t being used and no more than 5 years if they’re used occasionally? If you’re shooting on the same card over and over again, I’d highly encourage you to stock up on some extras. This will not only help you stay organized as you juggle multliple sessions / weddings, but you’ll have peace of mind knowing you can trust the cards you’re using.

If you use a camera that allows for a dual memory card slot (like a Canon 5D Mark IV), consider getting some extra CF cards as well so you protect yourself against corrupted memory cards.

Pro Tip: Keep the memory card packaging. Each SanDisk memory card comes with one free year of recovery software. If you’re thinking, “psh, I’ll never need that,” I truly hope you don’t. But coming from someone who accidentally only transferred 1/2 the photos from a session (to two places, I might add) before reformatting the card, you’ll be happy when you have this tool.

Portable Hard Drive Deals

Now that you’ve reformatted all of your memory cards for the year, you need a place to backup all of those precious photos / files for your clients! I’ve always been a fan of SeaGate and often run out of data faster than I think I will, so I recommend getting at least a 5TB External Hard Drive to be safe. Just make sure you double check whether it’s set up for Macs or Windows.

Pro Tip: Physically label your hard drives by year and then rename them on your computer so you know exactly what year you’re clicking on to find the files you need.
